What is BestAI?
BestAI is a free, community-driven site that compares hundreds of AI services — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and more — for specific purposes like "which AI is best for this?" Instead of benchmark scores, we aggregate the lived experience of people who actually use these tools into tier lists.
Anyone can browse and comment. Voting requires signing in with X. Even if you have only ever used one service, voting for just that one is perfectly fine.
How to read a tier list
A tier list arranges the vote results into five bands, from S (recommended) down to ✗ (not recommended). Below is a live tier list from an actual category.
Example: the current tier list for “General Chat & Assistants”
- The colored column on the left is the tier. Higher bands mean higher ratings, across five levels: S, A, B, C, and ✗. The ✗ (not recommended) band is always shown, even when empty.
- The number under each service is its score (a weighted average from 0 to 4). Within a band, services are ordered by score. Tap a chip to open that service's detail page.
- Aggregates with fewer than 5 votes carry a provisional badge. The more votes, the more reliable the rating. provisional
- On season result pages, movement since the previous season is shown with badges: ▲2 ▼1 NEW
- Some categories offer a "by service / by model" toggle (e.g. ChatGPT as a service vs. GPT-5.1 as a model).
Rating criteria
※ Your tier is simply your own subjective judgment — that's fine. The following are rough guidelines when voting.
- S
Recommended — Executes tasks effortlessly. Produces the intended output with few prompts and turns. Excellent cost performance. Almost no hallucinations.
- A
Good — Experienced users can accomplish most tasks. Eventually produces the intended output. Good cost performance. Few hallucinations.
- B
Average — Produces the intended output only after many prompts and turns. Average cost performance. Errors and hallucinations occur.
- C
Somewhat flawed — Fairly likely to never produce the intended output no matter how many turns you take. Frequent errors and hallucinations.
- ✗
Nearly impossible — Fails to produce the intended output in most cases.
How to vote
Voting happens on each sub-category page and takes four steps. A top-level category's tier list aggregates the votes of its sub-categories, so votes themselves are cast in sub-categories.

Pick a sub-category
From the home page or a category page, open the sub-category you want to vote in ("Write code", "Make images", …) and press the Vote button.

Sign in with X
Voting requires signing in with X (formerly Twitter). Browsing and commenting need no account.

Select the services you have used
From the candidate list, pick only the AI services you have actually used. Just one is fine. If something is missing, you can add it yourself.

Place them in S–✗ and save
Place your picks by dragging them onto the tier board, or with the S/A/B/C/✗ buttons. Your subjective judgment is exactly what we want. You can attach comments (recommended when placing something in ✗). Saving creates your personal tier list, ready to share as an image.

How votes are aggregated
- Overall tier list (always live): each vote's weight = the voter's trust score × time decay (90-day half-life). Old votes quietly fade, so the list keeps tracking how AI tools feel right now.
- Season results (every 2 weeks): only votes cast during the season count, all with equal weight, frozen at the deadline. Movement badges (▲▼/NEW) and a season MVP are announced.
